An improving Delaval made it three wins on the trot with goals in each half supplied by Stephen Anderson and Michael Fenwick.

Fifth-placed Carlisle City had an opportunity to overtake Killingworth Sporting and Heaton Stannington but they missed their chance with a third consecutive defeat away from home.

Seaton Delaval Dynamos, one of Northumberland's newest junior football teams, held a sponsored penalty shootout to raise money for the charity's appeal.

The club was set up in May by Rob and Anna Milburn from Seaton Delaval and, with the help of Neil Foster, they have recently been awarded FA Charter Standard status.

Seaton Delaval are lying fourth from bottom with 11 points from as many games.

Yet it was the home side who looked more likely to score in the opening minutes, forcing Seghill back and trying to use the size and weight of their loose head prop to break through the Seghill line.

Last season's cup winners Cullercoats made a first round exit this time, beaten 2-1 at Hillheads by First Division colleagues Whitley Bay A. Last term's beaten finalists Harraby hammered Second Division cup visitors Willington Quay Saints 12-0.
