Seghill Colts record big victory
Seghill Colts kicked off the New Year in style with a 48-5 victory at home to Gosforth.
Although it was Seghill who dominated early possession, it was Gosforth who looked more likely to open the scoring when they broke forward.

However, from a Seghill clearance, captain Nick Heard passed the ball to Paul Latham on the wing.
He ran in from his own 22 to score his first try for the club, Stephen Gluck adding the conversion.
When Seghill regained the ball from the restart, a fine passing move released Micky Blewitt for a try on the right wing, Gluck again adding the conversion.
Gosforth continued to look for a way through the Seghill defence, but turn over ball freed Blewitt for his second try and gave Seghill a 19-0 lead at the break.
Seghill replaced Dan Blackburn at second row, with Dean McPhee making his first start of the season. When the kick-off failed to go 10 metres, Seghill took advantage and Jake Armstrong broke through for his side's fourth try and Gluck added the conversion.
After almost two years out following a severe knee injury, Dan Townshend returned to action, just five months after surgery, when he replaced French at scrum half.
The Seghill forwards continued to drive forward, and from a ruck, Craig Smith called for the ball.
As he was tackled, he released the ball for Heard to score under the posts. Blewitt added the conversion.
Gosforth went back on the attack, but when Seghill turned over the ball, McPhee produced a driving run down the left.
When he was stopped just short, he released the ball and Heard set Craig Embleton up for another try.
Gosforth pushed forward again and again and their determination was rewarded when, from a line-out, Dan Grant went over for a consolation try.
When Gosforth recovered the ball from a five-metre scrum, they looked to clear with a kick up field. However, the kick was charged down and Armstrong notched his second try of the day.
From the restart, Andy McLean took a superb one-handed catch.
He laid the ball off to Matthew Sherman, who made a super run for the line, before unselfishly passing the ball for Blewitt to score his third try with the final play of the game.
